Tips to Find Your Perfect Trench Coat Fit

Tips to Find Your Perfect Trench Coat Fit

The right trench coat isn't about the label — it's about the fit. Get these five details right and your coat will look made for you.

1. Check the shoulders first

The shoulder seam should sit at the edge of your shoulder. It's the one thing that's almost impossible to alter.

2. Leave room for layers

You'll wear your trench over sweaters and blazers. Make sure it still closes comfortably over a medium-weight knit.

3. Mind the sleeves

Sleeves should end at your wrist bone, just covering your shirt cuff. Not shorter, not much longer.

4. Pick your length

Hip length feels casual, just above the knee is the most versatile, and below the knee looks elegant and dramatic.

5. Measure before you order

Measure your chest, waist and arm length, and compare them with the size information on the product page. Between sizes? Size up for layering.

Not quite right? You can return your coat within 30 days of delivery, unworn and with tags attached.
